Memories of Spring

When I think of May, I cannot help but recall the early memories of springtime. Flowers in beautiful array, brighten the landscape in endless hues, while the birds finally muster up enough courage to emerge from their nests, filling our day with song. To most people, May represents the emergence of spring from winter’s shadow, the awakening from cold slumber. While I treasure this facet of spring, I also value one other memory of springs past and springs yet to come.
For as long as I can remember, my family and I have helped my grandmother move from her fall and winter home in Elkhorn, Wisconsin, to her summer cottage, situated along the shores of one of Wisconsin’s northern lakes, Lac du Flambeau.
