Lulac Intrest Group

LULAC

The interest group that I have chosen involved with Texas Government is LULAC. LULAC which stands for “The League of United Latin American Citizens” is one of the oldest and largest organizations that represent the voice of Hispanics here in Texas. This organization also provides a voice for Hispanics throughout United States including Guam and Puerto Rico. The brief history of Lulac in short is an organization that has come a long way since it was formed in February 17, 1929 at the Salon Obreros y Obreras in Corpus Christi by the merging of The Corpus Christi of the Orders Sons of America, The Alice of the Order Sons of America, The Order Knights of America of San Antonio, Texas, and The League of Latin American Citizens of South Texas. These first members of LULAC were mainly middle class Hispanics from here in Texas. Members ranged from skilled laborers, business owners, and even some lawyers. Bernardo F.
