Tourist, who visited the Bahamas in the late 70’s and early 80’s, could say that the Bahamas was one of the cleanest destinations in the Caribbean. Many foreigners who travelled here to witness the natural beauty the Bahamas had to offer. They also enjoyed our geographical nature that had strategically set the pace for tourism in the past. As the decades passed, we enjoyed being recognized as one of the world’s most beautiful paradises, but we totally forgot about the future. Apparently, we also forgot that keeping our environment clean could sustain continuous growth in the tourism industry. Improper disposal of waste and the lack of national pride has caused the environment to suffer. The build up of garbage on our beaches, in our schools and communities were created as a result.
