Lord of the Flies

Ralph
Ralph means counsel.
Ralph is the leader of the boys he acts almost like a grown-up because he is a willing leader but knows that each boy must speak his mind, and when a decision is to be made he lets the boys vote on it. He is described as, a fair-haired boy of twelve, and strong like a boxer (10). You meet Ralph first when he is on the beach looking for the others (7).


Jack
Jack means one who supplants.
Jack is the leader of the choirboys. He is extremely jealous of Ralph because Ralph is the leader of all of the boys. Jack is described as tall and thin with red hair and freckles (20). When we meet Jack he is marching the choirboys down the beach. Jack loves to have power and be in charge of everybody. Ralph lets Jack be the leader of the hunters because Ralph saw that Jack was furious when the boys voted Ralph instead of Jack as the leader (23).


Piggy
The name connects Piggy to the pigs that the other boys hunt and kill. Piggy is much wiser than the ot...
