Life/Death:Who will win?

The theme of light and dark is reoccurring through out The Scarlet Letter by the conflict between Hester and Pearl. Hester and Pearl’s battle over the light and darkness strengthens the theme of Hester’s doomed darkness and Pearl’s prevailing light.
Pearl and Hester are continually battling over the light to become pure. Hester is doomed to be in the darkness because of the sins she commits. A sign of Hester vanishing light is her beauty.
