John Fitzgerald: a characterisiation of daisy in the great gatsby

1. Introduction


In the last chapter Nick describes Daisy and Tom Buchanan as „careless people […] – they smashed up things and creatures and then they retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness, or whatever it was that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made.”

That shows that Nick thinks about Daisy and Tom that they have got the same characters. They are cruel and d they do not care about other people. They have got no real friends and whenever there is a problem they just flee and do not think about the consequences.

But don not know what happened between Daisy and Tom when they arrived home after the accident. Was it Daisy’s own decision to move away or was she influenced by Tom?
