To Be a Woman

Birth pangs, menstrual cramps, ah, the plights of being a woman! To endure the things we endure and then all the fights we have had to win to gain the freedoms we have, women have proven themselves an incredibly strong sex. In Nikki Giovanni’s poem “Woman”, she uses symbolism to describe the way women have had to constantly change to become something that gives them pride trying the whole time to please and get support from their male companions.
