How is Metacognition used in Reading to Learn?

There are so many ideas out there that you want to use for your classroom, but the question is which ones are the best? This article discusses what is metacognition, its variables, and why it should be used in the classroom.
First of all, what is metacognition? It is having knowledge, understanding, control over, and appropriate use of that particular knowledge. This sounds great, but how will it be used in the classroom? This is an important type of learning that may be an important asset to your classroom. It involves conscious awareness and conscious control in providing the students with an ability to read to learn.
Texts, tasks, strategies, and learner characteristics are the four variables that present reading to learn from a metacognitive perspective.
