How does technology contribute to the production of unreality?


I have a cell phone. I own a DVD player. I also own a VCR, a satellite dish, a computer with Internet access and a state of the art CD player. In my house there are 6 televisions, but we are only 5 people. Believe me I am not bragging. It’s actually quite embarrassing to admit to the technology junkie world I come home to everyday. But I am a typical product of a technology-crazed society. I mean when my mother was a child owning a television was something for the rich and elite. Now children are practically born with remote controls in their hands. This is a world where every idea, philosophy and culture is only a mouse click away, knowledge and interaction right at our fingertips yet instead of self-betterment we are on the verge of self-destruction. And unfortunately most people don’t even know it.
