How does Shakespere use themes, language and character in Romeo and Juliet to create a sense of tradgedy and impending doom?

Romeo and Juliet’ was written by William Shakespeare in the 1500’s. The play is a tragedy and is set in Verona. It centres around two young characters, Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet.
Romeo and Juliet’s families are at war with each other and have been for many years. We are told at the beginning of the play in the prologue that Romeo and Juliet are to fall in love, but die, ‘The fearful passage of their death marked love.’
When Romeo and Juliet fall in love they decide to marry, they are taking a big risk and tempting fate because of their family’s feud.
The theme of hate in the play is very strong, and ultimately, leads to the tragedy and deaths of many of the plays characters, including Tybalt Capulet who is Juliet’s cousin. Tybalt is very involved on the feud between the two families, and during a fight with Romeo, is killed. Other important characters are Friar Lawrence, who marries Romeo and Juliet, Montague, Juliet’s father, Lady Montague, his mother, alth...
