Homophobic Hotel Owner

Leona Helmsley, the owner of many hotels and one of the world’s richest women, is being ordered to pay $11.2 million to Charles Bell, a former hotel manager at her Park Lane Hotel who was fired because he is gay.
Bell, 48, said that Helmsley, 82, made sexual advances towards him and she became upset when he didn’t return the interest in her. When she found out he was gay, he said, she fired him.
