Old stories are the best: that is precisely what the Coen brothers determined somewhere while completing the script for O Brother, Where Art Thou? This huge hit, that has won more than a few awards, is based on Homer’s epic, the Odyssey. It is an interpretation of the Odyssey set in the 1930’s Mississippi. It is Homer in the deep south. Watching it you will find numerous hilarious comparisons made throughout and if you are familiar with the epic at all you will find the similarities not only clever but the Coen brother’s have actually taken this classic literature and made it understandable and enjoyable.
