History of the Automobile

The automobile as we know it today, was not invented in a single day by a single inventor. The history of the automobile reflects an evolution that took place worldwide. “It is estimated that over 100,000 patents created the modern automobile. However, we can point to the many firsts that occurred along the way. Starting with the first theoretical plans for a motor vehicle that had been drawn up by both Leonardo da Vinci and Isaac Newton” (inventors.about.com). When you think about the history of the automobile, the first thought that should come to mind is Henry Ford. Even though Henry Ford was not the only inventor of the automobile; he was able to help Americans to discover, and see what they were missing by being limited to a certain area of the country. That’s why Henry Ford is called the father of the automobile, due to the history and development of America throughout the 20th century (home.bip.net).
