History

With the dawn of the 16th century, there came together in Europe both the motivation and the means to explore and colonize territory across the seas.” There are thousands of reasons why Europeans traveled to the new territory. Some were seeking adventure, some searching for instant, individual wealth, and some just anxious for change. The most prevailing motivations though, were to spread religion and trade. Advances in technology made it possible for these dreams to come true. Europeans were motivated to explore new land because technological progresses allowed them to expand or escape their religion and become wealthy by trade in this new territory.

With little geographic knowledge and underdeveloped technology, Europeans were disinterested in exploring and colonizing new territories.
