Gypsy

Gypsy is a musical based on the written memoirs of the famous American stripper Miss Gypsy Rose Lee. The show contains the story of the life and rise to fame of a plain, untalented tomboy, Louise who later becomes the illustrious stripper, Gypsy Rose Lee. Not only does the musical portray this story, but it also comments on the way many parents push their children to breaking point in the quest to achieve their unfulfilled dreams. Gypsy was originally written to simply tell Louise’s story, but this interpretation really focuses the audience’s attention on the relationship between Louise and her domineering and pushy stage mother, Rose.

The show is constructed of many scenes of varying length, most of which are interjected with music, song and/or dance or are underscored with music.
