To a teen, getting a driver’s license is one of the greatest moments in his/her young life. The teenager is finally free to come and go without depending on an adult. As great as this may seem to the teen, getting a driver’s license also begins the most dangerous period in his/her teenage years. In most U.S. states, teens are able to obtain full-privileged licenses at the age of sixteen. This means they are allowed to drive freely on the road without any kind of restrictions at that early age. This is not how it should be. A sixteen year old lacks both the skill and the maturity to drive freely on the open road without any limitations placed on them. Teenagers should have to go through graduated-licensing programs before being issued a full-privileged license. Teenagers between the ages of sixteen and seventeen are too immature to possess a full-privileged license. Many teens feel the need to showoff or look cool in front of their friends.
