Gods and Generals

Gods and Generals was a masterful portrayal of the first three years of the American Civil War. It chronicled the achievements of Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson and General Robert E. Lee for the South. Another main character was Colonel Joshua Chamberlain from Maine, who was fighting for the Union. Gods and Generals showed the connection between the struggles of the civil war and the freedoms Americans have today. The main purpose of this movie was to show the viewers what the motives behind the American Civil War were and why the common stereotypes of the civil war are wrong. It showed real men and real situations and many modern day people disliked it because of this.
The movie begins by introducing its main characters. Robert E.
