In the article “Giottos Annunciation in the Arena Chapel, Padua” the author tries to convey to the reader the idea that the fresco of the “Annunciation” is extremely different in the way it was made, opposed to the other frescos in the Arena Chapel that he created. The author, Laura Jacobus tries to relate the fresco to the devotional practices of in the Arena Chapel during the Golden Mass, an event that took place to celebrate the Annunciation of the Virgin. She states that the fresco of the Annunciation that Giotto created at this chapel relates to the theatrical performances during this particular mass and that is reason why they are different from the other frescoes at the chapel.
