Five Observations from Missouri River Field Trip

¨ In the middle of the Missouri River stood an old support of some type for a pipeline. At first glance, it appeared to be a feeble attempt at building a bridge, but after further inspection and information from our instructor, the concrete columns topped with a big mason rectangle turned out to be part of an old pipeline system. This area of the river was surrounded by sandbars and appeared to be very shallow. Along this part of the river grew many deciduous trees, growing in batches which were scattered throughout. The pipeline marked an area of the river which looked similar to when it did when Lewis and Clark explored the area, lacking the channeling for transportation of goods.
