German Measles (also know as Rubella) is a disease that is not very common any more, but before the 1960's, outbreaks occurred every six to nine years. It use to be that having German Measles was considered a milestone in your life, like having chicken pox is now.
Rubella is a viral infection that is caused by a simple microorganism or a complex molecule that has a protein coat that can only grow and spread in living things. When a group of these microorganisms or molecules get together they cause people to get sick by infecting their bodies. The microorganisms or molecules that can be spread from one person to another are considered contagious.
