The Most Important Things in Life – “Are friends. Best Friends.”

One of the main reasons that the novel, Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Café, by Fannie Flagg, has been one of my favorites is the underlying theme of the importance of friendship. In addition, the novel is written in such a different manner than other novels, with a wonderful sense of humor and excellent writing. The dialogue between Evelyn and Ninny is so easy and natural, that reading it is just like hearing Ninny converse with Evelyn. It is almost as if you are sitting in the visiting room of the Rose Terrace Nursing home, eavesdropping on a conversation.
