Foxhunting

Should foxhunting be banned?

In this essay I will be discussing all the reasons for and against the banning of foxhunting. In my opinion, I think there should be no ban on foxhunting but I do feel there is some very good points put forward by people with opposing views.

Some people say that foxhunting is cruel and is only done as a sport, purely for fun. They believe this because the hounds have been trained to run slower but for longer, thus meaning the fox will inevitably be caught and killed. The reason behind the campaigners feeling this way is because instead of killing the fox rapidly, which the hounds have the capability to do, they prolong the chase, petrifying the fox and making the ‘sport’ more enjoyable.

However, the hounds have been trained to run at a slower pace because abolitionists have proven that being out of breath prevents more physical suffering occurring when being killed. This means it is a less painful experience when dying, so it is actually less ...
