Everybody in your house needs to know how to get safely out of any room, and where to meet outside. If there is a fire, it will be very dark. The smoke will make it hard to see and hard to breathe. It can be very scary and confusing. You want everybody in your house to know where all the exits are and how to get to them. You want to pick a single meeting place so you will know if anyone is missing. How do you create an Escape Plan? Create a floorplan for each floor in your home showing all the exits and labeling all the rooms. (Click on the sample floorplan to see an example.) Draw arrows from each room to at least two different escape routes (outside doors or windows). Make each escape route as short as possible. Select a place outside the house where the whole family will meet if there is a fire. It should be away from the house and it should be easy for everyone to get to safely.
