Fair is Foul and Foul is Fair

The theme of Macbeth is introduced through the lines from the witches’ remark “Fair is foul and foul is fair”. It states simply that not everything is as it seems, and that there are those who hide foul deeds, but in the end they receive fair and just punishment. Just like it happened to Macbeth when he kills Duncan. He committed an evil act, but because of his death, Macbeth became king which was good for him. Nevertheless, through the lines "Had I but died an hour before this chance, I had lived a blessed time; for from this instant there's nothing serious in mortality," Macbeth's feelings of remorse are revealed.
