In the poem, “The Raven’’ BY Edgar Allan Poe, a simple bird harasses the narrator. The narrator drifts off to sleep when suddenly there’s someone tapping at his door, in which he believes to be nothing more than a late night visitor. It is apparent that the narrator is depressed over the loss of the love of his life, who he refers to as a “rare and radiant maiden who the angels name Lenore.” The effects of the chilling night has the narrator’s nerves uneasy, the movement of his curtains sends thrills of shear terror through him that he’s never experienced before. As he calms him self down by repeating that it is just a mere late night visitor at his door. He then makes the kind gesture to apologize to the visitor for his long apprehension to open the door, blaming it on his nap, but as he opens the door there’s nothing there.
