Discuss and analyze three characteristics on Oedipus personality in Oedipus Rex


“Oedipus Rex” by Sophocles takes place in Thebes in Ancient Greece. Sophocles wrote more than 120 plays some of them for Oedipus, seven of his plays remain today and two of them are for Oedipus. Oedipus was a strong character but many strange things happened in his life. There are many characteristics that we can discuss about Oedipus in this play. Oedipus appears in the start of the story very sure about himself and he has a great idea about himself too. Another characteristic of his personality is the thirst he shows about finding the truth. He seeks for the truth even though he is almost sure after a point that the truth will damage his kingdom, his family and himself. A third characteristic of Oedipus personality is that he is very suspicious with the others.
