After reading the story “Boys and Girls” I had formulated many viewpoints on what the story meant. The short story was obviously about the issue of “Sex Role Stereotyping” and how has been a matter of many years now. The setting wasn’t exactly hundreds of years ago, but certainly not the present, this just showed how sex role stereotyping can happened in any place at any time, for example on a barn in the past. The author wrote the story by not referring to herself as a boy or girl or even her name, and by reading the first couple of pages, some would have thought that she was a boy just because of the chores and jobs she did around her farmland.
