Developing A Film

Prepare developer, stop bath and fixer at 20°C

1. In total darkness, with 35mm film cut off the leader, snipping between perforations. Cut across the leading corners of the film at an angle, this makes it easier for the strip to slide into the reel. Load the film in the tank spirals. Put empty reel in as well at the top.

2. Replace lid, turn on lights. Measure out developer in cylinder (20°C)

3. Fill the tank with Film Developer in the cap (keep the tank at an angle) then tap it on flat surface to dislodge air bubbles. Start the timer at the same time (7 and half minutes time according to the film used see chart)

4. Immediately start agitation of the developer, agitate continuously but gently for 30 seconds and then place the tank on the worktop. Then wait 25 seconds and the agitate the tank (upside down) for 5 seconds, replace tank on worktop, wait another 25 seconds and so on until there is only 30 seconds remaining.
