Cultural Literacy

Organizations are facing huge global and cultural transformations. Corporate leaders must now deal with organizations that are worldwide in scope and a workforce that is just as diverse. At issue is how do organizations build a culture and values that are shared by all in environments experiencing mergers and acquisitions specifically and globalization in general. A social constructionist approach view of organizational change is taken, focusing on how to engage the multitude of internal and external stakeholders in moving towards a organizational transformation. It is argued that current models of change often leave people feeling demoralized and appreciative inquiry is presented as an approach to organizational change management that deliberately focuses attention of learning and dialogue about what defines the culture and values to an organization.
