Corporal Punishment

Spare the rod and spoil the child? That’s what some believe, but is spanking a child for breaking a rule a form of punishment or a disciplinary action? Whether it is a school rule or a rule at home being broken, the use of corporal punishment is something that has been widely debated by teachers, parents, and churches all over this country. Some believe that it is an acceptable means of discipline, while others simply call it abuse.
A few years ago, people thought the only way to punish someone who did a terrible deed was to use corporal punishment. This of course means to inflict pain upon someone who has done wrong. Several examples of this kind of punishment are by hitting them, beating them, strapping them, or even whipping them. So why do we have it? How do we benefit from it, and how do we abuse it?
