Conforming to Society Conforming to Society In the “The True Face of Earth,” and “Hair Chronicles,” we find a contrasting effort by the authors, to conform to society. Nancy Whitley of “The True Face of Earth,” demonstrates a self-destructive need not to conform. As a youth, Nancy tried to portray her life and the life of her family as one agreeable to others; her attempt was unsuccessful. In “Hair Chronicles,” we find that Tabatha Rowley is lead down a path of self-destruction with her yearning to conform. Nancy tried to conform to society as a youth.
