Comparitive Religions Essay

For my Religion project I chose to do my project on the comparison between the Catholic Faith and Buddhism. Buddhism is a growing religion that is practiced by 300 million through the world. Buddhism was established by Siddhartha Gautama, known as the Buddha, in India during the sixth century B.C. Buddhism has spread throughout Asia and it now a major religion in Japan, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, and many other countries.
Siddhartha Gautama or Buddha established the origin of Buddhism. Siddhartha was born around 563 B.C.E. He was born in a town of Kapilavatu, which is now known as Nepal. He was born a prince and was the son of Shuddhodana, who was a king of the Sakyas. Siddhartha’s mother died only a week after she gave birth to him, and Siddhartha was raised by his older sister.
