Several years ago a popular reggae artist VC wrote a very wisdom filled song which stresses the message that a man should be known by what he does and not what he says he does. The whole song goes through different scenarios in which people tend to be hypocritical. The song is called By His Deeds. VC is speaking to those who influenced the song’s lyrics; VC makes sure at the end of every verse he reminds those who are being hypocritical that they will soon get caught one way or another.
VC wrote very powerful lyrics, which some of the Rastafarian community inhabiting most of the island he is singing from would not agree with. Most of the target audience VC. Is discussing are teens and young adults, who don’t generally listen to his type of mellow music. They would most probably rather listen to hip-hop or dancehall. Which raises the question, how will these lyrics reach the troubled youth, which the lyrics are directed at?
