Common Sense

As I live in a British colony of North America on the eve of the revolution I find myself searching for answers. Should we revolt against British rule and achieve complete independence. Or should the colonies continue to be governed by England. Colonial life is not easy; will change in government make things easier or create more heartache? Today I received the pamphlet that everyone was talking about, Thomas Paine’s Common Sense. I was so captivated by his ideas; I finished the reading in one sitting. He addresses all the questioned I had that no other could answer. Paine explained why independence was important, gave ideas on how to obtain it, and once independence has been secured how to govern it.
