College Acceptance Essay

Gus Hiddink - now there is a true hero. Who is he you ask? Well, he’s the man who led the South Korean National Soccer Team to the semifinals in the World Cup 2002 Korea/Japan. True, he is not as remarkable as some of the historical celebrities. And most likely, you’ve never even heard of this Dutch man. But on a smaller scale, he’s the man who made those Koreans believe. He took away the financial troubles and burdens; he made you forget the difficulties of life for hours at a time with breathtaking performances. His brilliant strategies, his astute game plans, and the way he swung his arm when team Korea scored - all of those things and more engrossed the despaired citizens into joy and ecstasy. When he and his pupils valiantly stepped out into the deafening enthusiasm of the stadium, everything seemed to be in sync; everything seemed to be perfect - little else mattered for the time being. What he did was truly remarkable. He came alone to a country he’s never been to before...
