cloudstreet

Cloudstreet, by Tim Winton, is a story about two families, the Lambs and Pickles, who find themselves living at number one Cloud Street together. It follows these two families and the individual characters and their problems for over 20 years. The main themes and issues of the text are the importance of family, sence of place and belonging, intergration and becoming whole and the need for community, forgiveness, unconditional love and healing, the natural landscape has healing powers. Winton conveys these themes using techniques such as characterisation, imagery, structure, language, humour, historical reference, symbolic constructs, symbolism, setting etc.

Characters fortunes and ill-fortunes as they struggle to find meaning and harmony in their lives.
