child observation

Freya is 2 years and 5 months.

All indications show that she is developing normally for her age, her posture, gross & fine movements, vision, hearing, speech, social behaviour & play are made in accordance with Mary Sheridan’s developmental chart . Freya is a white female child of Irish descent. She is the eldest of two children; her younger sibling is a baby girl.

My impression of Freya is that she is naturally at the fore front of what ever it is she is doing. This seems to be a natural feeling to her; it’s as if she does not seem to expect anything less. This is demonstrated throughout the observations:

…Freya walked over to the yellow bucket and threw the baby doll into it with Veronica following suit… (Observation, 20/11/02)

The way that Freya played helped to show her strength and posture and her gross and fine motor movements. I have observed Freya perform various play formats throughout the observation. e.g. Symbolic play. Sylva and Lunt (1983, p.16...
