Chicago nightclub under court closure when 21 trampled to death

A Chicago nightclub where twenty-one people were killed and 55 others injured in the rush to get to the only open door when a panic swept through a second-storey dance club at the Epitome restaurant. Witnesses say the panic broke out when security guards used pepper spray to break up a fight between two patrons on the dance floor of the Epitome nightclub.
There was only a narrow stairway leading down from the crowded club. Fire officials say they found locked and blocked doors at the club, as well, which were a factor in the deadly stampede. One eyewitness in the club said that when the pepper sprays where used, somebody shouted terrorist and that was what led to the stampede. Again one of the bouncers in the club said that this was not the first time the pepper spray was used....
