The Causes of the Civil War

After reading the causes of the Civil War I learned that slavery was not the only cause of the war and maybe not the major cause of the war. For example there were fundamental differences in assumptions, tastes, and cultural aim that made it virtually impossible for the two for the two societies to live together in peace. Northerners opposed slavery because they feared it might it might spread into their own region and threaten the position of free white laborers, which they didn’t want it to expand into the West.
