On February 2002 our Colegio Jefferson 7mo./8th graders participated in the VII Mathematics Olympic Competition. The competition consists of three individual tests designed to challenge these students' mathematical ability. For the first time in the history of this event during the second test several of our students tied for the final round. As a result, they were tested a third time to arrive to this year's finalists.

On March 13, the Final Jefferson Mathematics Olympics 2002 took place. Fernando Martínez, Raúl Acosta Rubio and Juan Andrés Jacobus battled consistently for first place during 8 rounds of questions when in reality only 6 had been stipulated. It was an extremely competitive event, full of suspense, energy and camaraderie.

Like in any competitive event victory always comes to one participant and in this case FERNANDO MARTÍNEZ was awarded first place this year.

It is wonderful for Colegio Jefferson to see its students shine like stars due to their own effort...
