Captial Punishment

The issue on capital punishment being allowed in the American court system has been an ongoing debate for many years. I believe that capital punishment is moral and just. Edward Koch said “it is by exacting the highest penalty for the taking of human life that we affirm the highest value of human life.” How can murder be taken seriously if the punishment isn’t as serious as the crime? It can’t be which is why we need to do something about it. I firmly believe that you can have a deep regard for human life and also be in favor of the death penalty. One is not synonymous of the other.
Murder is the worst crime there is. Anything less than the death penalty is insulting to society and most of all the victim and their family. People who are unwilling to respect the laws of our country and be responsible law abiding citizens will be dealt with within our judicial system.
