Every year there are around 200,000 new cases of breast cancer. An estimated 10,000 woman and 1,500 men will die from breast cancer this year. Even though people know what to look for and how to treat breast cancer thousands of people are dieing from it every year. The only way to keep more people alive is to learn as much as you can about it.
Breast cancer is a type of cancer where the cells in the breast tissue grow without the usual controls on the cell death and division. Breast cancer effects people that are older, the older you are the higher the risk you are. A personal history of ovarian cancer, having someone in the family that has had breast cancer, and starting you period very young can all be factors in increasing your risk for breast cancer. Woman who eat well and exercise have a lower chance of getting breast cancer. Studies have shown that woman who drink alcohol a lot have a higher risk of breast cancer.
