Biography of Billy Collins

Billy Collins was born in New York City on March 22, 1941. He attained his Bachelors degree in 1963 from the College of the Holy Cross. Collins moved onto the University of California to achieve a Ph.D. in Romantic Poetry in 1971. The same year he graduated the University of California, he became an English professor at Lehman College, returning to his roots in NY. Collins has also been a writer-in-residence at Sarah Lawrence College and has served as Literary Lion of New York (Collins, Billy).
