Big Bear

Anxiety bites at my fingernails, as I sit in the crowded back seat of our forest green Ford pickup truck.
“Mom, when are we going to get there?” I asked slowly loosing patience.
“Soon, we’ll arrive there soon, sweetie” she replies with a soothing tone of voice.
For years we have been going to the same place every summer to camp out. It was a family tradition that I vowed to keep when I start my family. I look out at the millions of lush, green, trees passing in the window, one after another. Getting dizzy, I lay my head down on the back of the padded seat. I can hear my annoying brothers yelling at each other on each side of me, they were in a fight about who gets to have the new sleeping bag with the pillow strategically attached onto it.
“Quiet down boys, we are here,” says my tolerant father in the driver seat.
