The rest of the population just deals with it, like a machine deals with a task. People lose their identity in most of today’s jobs, thus they take less pride and dignity in their work. The story of Bartleby parallels perfectly with today’s situation. When you first get a new job it is exciting. You get to do something that you haven’t really done before; it’s a break in repetition. After the first few weeks it gets a little more boring and boring until you are fed up with it. You go back to the point and reason you left your other job, it gets too repetitive. You lose the feeling when you are going into work, “What’s going to happen today?â€, “Am I going to encounter something I never have before?â€. Instead of having that feeling you end up feeling like the same exact thing you felt yesterday is going to happen again today, like always. Your going to go into wo...
