“Avalon”
Avalon is about the evolution of a Russian family. The movie starts off with the migration of Sam Krichinsky to Boston, Massachusetts on the Fourth of July. He stayed in a neighborhood called Avalon with his four brothers and he eventually married and had one son named Jules. Jules and his cousin opened a Television store and moved up in the retail business and started the first discount warehouse. They became wealthy and moved out of Boston to the suburbs, creating distance between the relatives. When the warehouse burnt down the wealth disappeared but the distance between the families remained.
Avalon starts off with Sam Krichinsky describing America as the greatest place on Earth with everyone celebrating the Fourth of July. Sam saw all the fireworks, and people partying in the streets that enforced the image that America is the land of the free and land of opportunities.
