The athletic shoe industry is highly competitive as well as a demanding market where fierce competition, price conscience consumers, and constant changing market trends and fads have all been attributing factors in how a manufacturer responds. This makes the opinions of buyers very important. It is imperative to develop strong relationships with those same buyers for the advancement and future growth of a company in the athletic shoe industry.
Buyers will purchase shoes based on trends as well as what type of technological advancements have been made. In May 1999, the average retail price for a pair of athletic shoes was around $62.
