Are Repressed Memories Valid?


After reading over this issue about weather or not repressed memories are valid, I decided that I agree more on the side of Richard P. Kluft. I do feel that repressed memories are valid. I will point out in this paper the reasons that I agree with Kluft and I will also point out the reasons that I disagree with Elizabeth F. Loftus. I would also like to express to you that I feel that there are some valid points to both sides of this argument. The reason I say this is because I strongly believe that you have to take these repressed memories on a case by case basis. You have to decide how the repressed memories came about. You have to know how much the person with the repressed memories can be lead or influenced by others. The last thing I would say is that you have to evaluate what the potential motives for the recollection of the repressed memories are.
