Another sample essay

and I’d like to welcome you to my Seventh Grade Language Arts class. I am a new teacher to Benjamin Stoddert Middle School this year, and I am very happy to be here. While I am new considered “new” to Stoddert this year, I am not new to teaching in Charles County. I spent six years teaching English for grades 9 through 11 at McDonough High School, and taught 8th grade Language Arts here at Stoddert in the 1995-1996 school year.

This year we will be following Charles County Public Schools’ Essential Curriculum for grade 7 language arts as well as satisfying the Maryland State Department of Education’s requirements. Much of our work will reference the McDougal Littell The Language of Literature anthology, but we will read a variety of other materials including poetry, fiction, and non-fiction.
