After World War II, the Soviet Union became a communist country. The country was founded for the common advantage of all members under its rule. The Amish society was also founded to share a common good among its members, but it was not ruled by a government like the Soviet Union's. Instead, the Amish people controlled their own lives. These people who valued common good over individual good clustered together and formed a society by simply isolating themselves from the outer world and not relying on others for help. Another difference between these two societies is that the Soviet Union adopted technology whereas the Amish did not; Amish people have rules that restrict their individuality. Due to these rules, the Amish lifestyle, even today, is very restrictive to the young Amish generation. The basis of the Amish rule is to avoid pride of the individual.
